I know that it rains a lot in Bergen, I know that the days are very short in the winter, I know we do not have much snow in the city, I know that one can get emotionally unstable sometimes during the year because of the weather, I know that the temperature can be the same in summer as in the winter. So, there are three things that a well prized in Bergen, especially in the month of December: a blue sky, the sun and snow.

The truth is that after minutes, hours, days, weeks or even whole months of rain, when you suddenly get to see the clear sky and the sun it is almost like a new world is opening in front of your eyes. You know how to appreciate the light, the sky and the sun a bit more, you know how to enjoy what you see around you, the things you saw everyday but in a different light… and somehow everything is more beautiful! You realize that you daily passed by the same landscape and did not notice their beauty, you did not notice how wonderful they are, and you just stay unmoved for minutes and enjoy their beauty.

This happens to me every time I get to see the sun, the blue sky, the spring green, the flowers of the summer, the colours of autumn, and the winter snow, and suddenly the landscape out my window it is like taken from a fairytale… I enjoy it, savour it and admire every time with such innocence as if I have never seen it before in my life.

And somehow I believe it is true… not every spring the green is as green, and it does not appear in the same places; not every summer one gets to see the same flowers blooming; in the autumn you don’t get to see the same yellow leaves, not the same leaves get copper shades and not the same leaves are still green because the sun and the blue sky don’t show themselves every day. So, I truly believe that Bergen is the most beautiful place in the world. Always new… always surprising… After almost 7 years it still manages to surprise me. I am so lucky to be here and see them, including today.
