Strabucks  o sa deschida abia in 2012 prima cafenea in aeroportul din Oslo.

English version

The number one vice of the Norwegian is coffee. They are all day with a coffee cup in their hands, I guess some of them drink up to 4-5 cups a day. The Norwegian coffee is very light, sort of a stronger black tea :), it does not compare with the coffee my father prepares at home. I started drinking coffee on a more regular basis about last year, in the summer, I do not enjoy the taste very much, but I take it with milk and so it is a bit more “drinkable” :).

Considering how much do the Norwegian enjoy coffee, I am constantly surprised that Starbucks is not already present in every Norwegian city. Starbucks will actually open their first store right outside the Oslo airport in 2012. I hope they will extend to Bergen soon.

While Starbucks is missing, there are a few coffee-shops/bakeries where you can enjoy a good coffee, a sandwich or a cookie. Among these there is also Baker Brun, where we went on Saturday after the great hamburger at Inside. Baker Brun is a special place with tradition for the Norwegian, being established in 1893 by Christopher Brun. Presently, there are 12 places around Bergen where you can find the Baker Brun products, and we went to the one at Lagunen.

Baker Brun have several bakery products, fresh and tasty made off high quality ingredients: breads and rolls of all kinds, with all sorts of seeds and different flour types, cookies based on yeast doughs, different cakes for all occasions, freshly squeezed natural juices, ready-made sandwiches, etc.

We chose to serve a cappuccino, a caffe latte and a walnut-almond cookie. We also bought to take home a small bag with cracked nuts, almonds and seeds caramel brittle. We enjoyed the time there, the coffee and cookie being fresh and very good, so we closed the afternoon in a very nice, pleasant and relaxing manner.

Conclusion: Any stroll through Bergen should also have Baker Brun as a stop, at least for smell of freshly baked bread or freshly ground coffee. I am sure that it would be difficult to refrain from really trying them. From me Baker Brun gets 5 lilies!
